A note from Diana Bianco, Founder

I moved to the Pacific Northwest many years ago for the mountains, the beaches, the desert, and the innovative approach to health care. I became interested in health policy in law school where I discovered the complexity of the system and saw the promise of a better way.

I believe good health is a foundation of social justice and equity. For more than 30 years, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside organizations and people who want to make a better world by improving health and well-being in their communities.

The diversity of my work has made me well suited to see different angles on problems and to imagine new solutions. Before launching Artemis Consulting in 2005, I served as a vice president for an organization working toward an accountable and accessible health care system, led the health care division of a national advocacy organization, represented children and adults with disabilities in health care matters, and served elected officials ranging from county chairs to mayors and governors.

As a consultant, I’ve helped develop health policy, facilitated collaborative processes that resulted in legislative action, drafted communications strategies, helped small organizations envision their future, and advised clients on the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing health care environment.

Outside of work, I find peace and joy hiking and biking in the great outdoors, laughing with my family, and making big dinners with friends.

A few more tidbits: I graduated from New York University of Law and Brown University. I’ve served on the boards of nonprofits serving women and children. I volunteer in my community in a variety of ways, from raising money for political candidates to picking up garbage on the side of the highway with my pals.

Values I bring to my work

  • Justice, fairness, and equity are why I work in health and health care. I believe everyone has the right to thrive no matter their race, ethnicity, income, immigration status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age, or where they live.

  • Humor makes everything easier and more fun. Laughter with family, friends, and clients sustains me.

  • Curiosity keeps me growing. I ask questions and I listen to what I’m hearing. I’m always looking for challenging projects that will push me and my clients into new territory.

  • Authenticity with grace is important to me. I speak my truth, even when it’s hard, and I always try to do it with kindness. We’re not going to make progress if we’re not transparent.

  • Optimism is central to who I am. If I wasn’t optimistic, I couldn’t work in health care. I believe in possibility and in working together towards a healthier world.
